Community Hike | Saturday, Sept 13th
Steven’s Trail | Colfax, CA | 9 miles roundtrip | FREE
Everybody needs beauty as well as bread — places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul. Our Free Community Hike is about just that: stepping off our mats and into the wild, where social wellness is found in connection, movement, and time in nature.
Trail Details - Steven’s Trail:
We’ll be hiking Steven’s Trail in Colfax — a scenic 9-mile out-and-back that winds down to the American River (yes, there will be time for a plunge!). Expect canyon views and a steady uphill climb on the way back.
Meet: Trailhead at 8:00 AM sharp
Finish: Off the trail around 1:00 PM
AllTrails link: Steven’s Trail on AllTrails
Tip: We suggest downloading the AllTrails app for navigation.
Directions from Sacramento:
Take Interstate 80 east and exit at North Canyon Way (Exit 135) at Colfax. Turn left on North Canyon Way, which parallels the freeway. After a short distance, you’ll see a parking area sign on the left that says “Steven’s Trail.”
Note on conditions: The hike is mostly exposed with little shade, so hydration is key. Please bring plenty of water and electrolytes (LMNT, Re-Lyte, or sea salt are great options).
Who’s Invited:
This is a free community event, open to all — bring your friends, partners, or hiking buddies! Please note: the trail is rated hard due to the uphill return, so use discretion when inviting children or pets.
✨ Carpooling is encouraged!
