The Power of Breath - A Winter Solstice Experience
A Somatics and Breathwork Experience
Led by Jen Lorenz
November 29th | 1–3:30 PM | Investment: $65
Breathwork may seem like a new modality, however, the yogis have been practicing pranayama since the inception of Yoga.
The Why:
Why is a mindful practice like yoga, breathwork, somatics and meditation so crucial in today’s world and lifestyle?
Humans are getting more information in a single day than they did in an entire lifetime. This information can often lead our nervous system down a path of stress. Although sometimes stress is good for the body (can help it grow, become more resilient and can provide new perspective) it can also cause harm when not discharged and gets trapped.
This can lead to a rise in adrenaline, cortisol and inflammation. Dis-ease is created and the body can experience physical effects as a result. This is the sympathetic state (fight, flight, freeze or fawn).
Healthy practices like mindful movement can release stored energy. When the body is allowed to release, the nervous system can relax and return to the parasympathetic (rest and digest).
By moving through stress, the body can recover and return to a balanced state. Yoga means to “yoke—bring together.” It is an ancient practice of moving body and breath in a special and mindful way. It can be a useful tool in discharging stress out of the body.
A more balanced body means a more balanced nervous system. And in today’s busy world, this is a tool that can lead to a healthier and more vibrant and vital life!
In this two and a half hour workshop, we will dive deeper into releasing stored stress in the body which leads us into our “stuckness.” Through somatics (tapping, shaking, releasing) we will explore getting free.
